Phone of the Day: Nearby Kohls | Undisclosed location

This was taken at a local Kohls, just a little north of where I live. This is located in massively redeveloped area of box stores when it was just all trees. I can’t remember when it was built, I’m going to bet before the 2009 bankruptcy of Nortel. (Remember a similar post of noticing Mitel sets of their alleged “Do we stand by our man?” post bankruptcy mentality across any former Nortel sites.) Newer stores went with the “screw them” approach of building new stores with Mitel and older stores still run Avaya Blue.

What’s the most weirdest thing is how old these sets have been on the market via Avaya for many years and similar sets via Avaya Red had been EOL’d like ten years ago. These Norstar 7316 sets were released as general availability (using Avaya Red language, not sure if it’s Nortel-speak) around year 2000. As you can see, you not only see the Avaya logo above the display, but molded near the speakerphone. I’m not sure if these were original to the store as well.

What’s more ironic is the Nortel community is all about constant updates, but yet so many customers were still on SL1 sets during the change of the Millennium and so many sets introduced from that same time are still on the market.
